The New Hudson River School

An unexpected benefit of the struggle to save the Hudson Valley from
reckless reindustrialization has been rise of an innovative movement in
the arts -- The New Hudson River School of painting.

Recalling the works of legendary 19th century American masters Frederick
Church, Thomas Cole, Albert Bierstadt, and others, members of the School
have revived the intricate brush techniques and ethereal vision of their
forbears.

Remarkable for their sense of light, color and spirituality, these
extraordinary landscapes offer a powerful new aesthetic appropriate for
a new situation.

Below are photos of four recent paintings from The New Hudson River
School:

"Plant at Sunset," by Frederick Clinker "Plume in the Valley," by Frederick Clinker "Fresh Air in Catskills," by Thomas Coal "Sales on the Hudson," by Frederick Clinker
